What Inspires You?

Maybe you've noticed I've been trying to write more. Since returning from Asia I'm really making an effort to set goals (even if they are small), learn, search for happiness and stand up for myself and the things I believe in.

I've already mentioned my love for stationary and so I'm showing you my new Inspiration Journal. I'm writing quotes, blog ideas, funny anecdotes and interesting information down in it. I bought it when I was traveling in Thailand and decided I should use it instead of save it (like the other 10 journals I have in boxes). I'm not really a "dear diary" type so this seems like a useful application for it.

So this is where I'm at. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life long term and keep doing what makes me happiest. I'm not sure where this blog is heading but it will probably continue to be a record of things I'm doing and stuff I'm thinking about. I like things to be interactive so if you're reading and have hesitated on commenting in the past I would like to encourage you to comment. It really makes my day and I do write back!

What about you- do you set specific goals for yourself? Do you journal? What do you think of my new blogging direction?

Speaking of goals, to give an update on my reading goal, it's slowed down a lot since I've been working full time but I'm going to keep going and see where I get. The important thing is that I'm reading, right? I'm in the middle of three books (Wicked, Look Me in the Eye and The Year of the Flood) so hopefully I'll finish them all up soon. I figure reading should be about relaxation and enjoyment rather than numbers. Saying that, I still covet the reading numbers of some of my friends. I just don't know how they find the time to read that much though!

I am proud of how many books you have read and I am also proud of the fact that you are putting some of the stuff you bought in Asia to good use.. not just hoarding it. lol Love you!

I do the same thing!! I have SO many hardcover journals that are empty and I've had them for 15+ years. I always think, "But will I be able to use this whole thing? Or will I only write a little in it and then it will be wasted!?!?!"

I finally started using this book that is made from a huge chunk of bark and it is almost full!!

I should blog about it and show you a picture!

I'm not the "dear diary" type anymore either. However, a friend recently gave me a beautiful journal. I use it to write down blog entry ideas & journal entries whenever something happens that I want to record (ie. like when I have an awesome day or just need to write something down that I don't feel like sharing on the internet).

I'm also trying to figure out my life long term. I find my paper journal & my blog are helping me keep focused.

i didn't start keeping a journal until about three or four years ago. it came about at a time when i was hit with the realization that: (a) my memory, while once great, is now fairly mediocre and isn't getting better; and (b) i don't remember to take photos. That's why I started to write. the urge comes and goes, but i find my journal a good outlet for my inner crazies.

How are you enjoying Wicked? I read that one several years back. It was a fluffy read, if I recall correctly.

I think setting goals is really important, but I don't follow through very well. I know that if we really want a goal to happen or work for our life we have to make them less vague and actually pin point what it is that we need to do. I guess that's why I like setting them. It helps me wade through all my bullshit and find a path. ;)
